Visitors are welcome to enjoy the
beautiful grounds
at Ivy Hill. We ask only that visitors behave in a way that shows
respect
for those who rest here. While the cemetery is park like, it is not a
public
park; moreover, it is not public property, it is private property. We
are
dedicated to the preservation of the cemetery grounds as an
attractive,
reverent setting for the sacred burial of the
dead;
accordingly, we ask and expect all persons entering the cemetery to
observe
our rules and regulations.
The cemetery grounds are open from sunrise to sunset. It is unlawful to enter the cemetery grounds after dark; violators will be prosecuted to fullest extent of the law. During daylight hours, one may walk through the cemetery. Jogging is prohibited between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM (to prevent distractions when funerals are in progress or families are visiting graves). The use of recreational vehicles (such as bicycles, mopeds, mini-bikes, go-carts, ATV's) or equipment (such as roller blades, skates, skate boards , cross-country skis, sleds) is not allowed in the cemetery. NO PETS ( except for service animals aiding the handicapped, law enforcement, cemetery security or belonging to the cemetery) are allowed, either loose, or on a leash, in the cemetery, at any time, for any reason. While the cemetery is a space that is dedicated to the sacred burial of the dead, its real reason for being is to serve the living. In addition to creating an atmosphere of peace and sanctity for visitation by family members, we serve our community as repository of history and as haven for wildlife. Please visit us and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings. We ask only that you behave in a way that shows respect for the memory of those who sleep beneath the oaks at Ivy Hill, and is in harmony with the atmosphere of dignity and peace which their family members have a right to expect us to maintain. |
